Our first guests

imageWe had our first guests on Wonderstruck.  We were surprised and excited when our friends Roxanne and Deb told us they wanted to come up to Georgia and help us get moved in.  Armed with a teakettle, a cribbage board, scopolamine patches, and a great sense of humor, they took the plunge, having little to no idea what they were getting into.  The curtains and the cushions are all being redone so there is no insulation and not many places to sit.  The weather is freezing.  You have to walk to the marine bathhouse for showers, toileting, etc.  We spent the days just cleaning and organizing the boat.  The boat itself hasn’t even pulled out of the slip since it arrived in November.    One highlight was when Deb decided to balance in the deflated dinghy while it was hanging and swaying from the dinghy davits in order to remove the old boat name with a razor blade and then try and install the new name.  How she managed to get it perfectly horizontal is amazing. That dinghy was all over the place! But she did a wonderful job and Wonderstruck looks great on our transom.

Roxanne volunteered to help figure out software glitches. I had to install bootcamp to get Windows to run on my Macintosh to be able to use the Navigation software we are wanting to run.  I just don’t have the patience or the knowledge base to make sense of it all. She sat working for hours with the laptops, and disc drives, and wifi, until my head was spinning.  But thanks to her my mac now is more like an Almond Joy, sometimes it feels like a nut, sometimes it don’t. image

So a big thanks to Deb and Roxanne.  Hats off to them—they came with a sense of adventure and humor and were a TON of help.  Thank you!
